Teaching weather symbols

I found this other site that teaches you about the different weather symbols found on weather maps. It also has links to the weather channel and the national weather service. I think you will find it useful in teaching your students about weather and how to forecast the weather. Here is the link: http://eo.ucar.edu/webweather/forecasttips.html

Educational Computer Games?

Just wanted to know anyone's opinion on their students playing educational computer games.
What do you think about them? I allow my students to play computer games when they have free time but only on certain sites such as funbrain. I think it helps them because they are learning and having fun doing it. If you know of any other educational computer game sites please feel free to add them on your comments. Thanks

Smartboards

At my campus almost every teacher has a smart board. The problem I see is that many of the teachers at my campus do not know how to use them. The district needs to provide more trainings on how to use the smart boards during the school year. The smart board has many interactive tools that the secondary teachers can utilize. I went to a training over the summer and it was very informative but their was only a handful of teachers. I am going to try and help my teachers at my campus with the smart boards and all the tools they have available to them.

Grants Do They divide the campus?

I was discussing with a principal at my district about the Date grant some teachers are going to receive this year. What bothered me the most is that they excluded the Science lab mangers from this grant. Only classroom teachers were going to be eligible for this grant. Another point that was brought up was who got most of the money. It seems to me that the TAKS grade teachers were the ones getting most of the money. I was wondering if the lower grade teachers felt like they deserve more money and if they feel any resentment. I also feel that the science lab managers should not be left out because they work just as hard trying to help the science teacher teach the students the science curriculum.

Teaching Weather

As I was doing my facts design for my class edtc6341 I decided (with the guidence of my professor) to construct a lesson plan on predicting the weather. At first I found it difficult to predict the weather and had no idea how to do it. With further research I found some useful sites that can help teach how to predict the weather. Here is a link to one of the sites. http://www.edheads.org/activities/weather/

Integrating Technology In Donna I.S.D

How can we help as educators integrate technology in to the curriculum here at Donna I.S.D.? I think by the five of the teachers/educators that have join the MTT program at UTB is a great start. We can provide trainings for our teachers at our campuses. I know that all of us have learned a lot over the summer and are just waiting to share with our teachers at our campuses. If they are any ideas that other teachers from other school districts can share with us, it would be greatly appreciated.
